This past Saturday, members of Team 501 attended the first annual TEDx AmoskeagMillyard. This was a local TED event, where 100 invitees got to hear from 14 different local speakers. The theme of the event was “The Unexpected” and each speaker shared their own personal views or encounters with something unexpected. FIRST founder Dean Kamen, was speaking at a TED event in Chicago, but attendees were able to see and listen to his talk via a streaming internet video. Jeremy Hitchcock, CEO of Dyn Inc, was also a speaker at the event.
Team 501 was received with a warm welcome from all those who attended. Our 2011 robot drew great interest from those who attended and we were able to give a demo of the robot, much to the delight of the attendees. Our team also showed off the 2011 Game Animation and the Driver’s Station Dashboard during the event. After the event, attendees gathered at Dyn’s headquarters for an after party that included our robot. Several Dyn employees even got the chance to drive the robot!
